
Sora Kheiry
Maryam Kheiry, also known as Sora, is a visual artist and designer with a deep passion for visual arts, design, and lifelong learning. With over six years of experience in art education, Sora has taught at art universities and schools in Iran. She is also an art researcher, focusing on the relationship between images and texts and the use of media in contemporary art. Her main research interests include the social semiotics of images, particularly the study of the semiotics of 'looking.' She has written a thesis, published articles, and presented her research at international conferences on these topics.
In her artwork, Sora primarily employs painting and drawing, while also integrating other media, such as photography. Her creations often explore themes of femininity and fertility, intertwined with natural elements like plants and flowers. As a member of the Iranian Painters Society since 2005, she has showcased her work in numerous solo and group exhibitions worldwide. Sora's journey brought her to Canada in the fall of 2019, where she continues to explore her passion for visual art and design.
